Man in the Mirror
Getting Control of Your Tongue (James, E14) The Wisdom of James, Episode 14: No one really wants to be a jerk. But what comes out of our mouths can just as easily burn the house down as build it up. Whether we say things we shouldn’t out of pain, pride, selfish ambition, lack of empathy, or for whatever other reason, we’re not predestined to stay that way. With God’s help, we can each improve and become a kinder, more predictable spouse, father, friend, and co-worker. Join Patrick Morley and, together, let’s understand why we say things we shouldn’t, what’s really going on, and seize the opportunity to do something about it.

The Law of Love (James, E12) The Wisdom of James, Episode 12: We all agree with the concept of fairness. If someone suffers for doing wrong, they are getting what they deserve. But that’s not how the gospel works. And because of the gospel, that’s not how Christians are to live either. Join Brett Clemmer as we look at James’ continuing lesson on partiality. James concludes: “Mercy triumphs over judgement!” That is good news for all of us—but also a warning about how we should treat others.

Join Patrick Morley and let’s explore how you can ensure you’re making quality decisions that reflect God’s wisdom and will for your life.

The Rules of the Road for Doing Good Deeds (James, E13) The Wisdom of James, Episode 13: Christians are peculiar. We feed the hungry, clothe the poor, and shelter the homeless. We are kind to strangers and forgive our enemies. But are these good deeds necessary for your salvation? And if you have faith but don’t do good deeds, does that mean you’re not going to heaven? Furthermore, can you do good deeds and still not go to heaven? These are serious and weighty questions! Join Patrick Morley as he simplifies and clarifies how good deeds and faith are entwined.

Is Favoritism Always a Sin? (James, E11) The Wisdom of James, Episode 11: If I were to guess, I’d say you have personal preferences. You have favorites. You may have a favorite spot to fish, or a favorite restaurant to go to on Friday nights. You probably even have some friends that, dare I say it, you like better than others. Is that OK? What lesson is God trying to teach us through the words of James? When we show partiality or preference to one person over another, is it always a sin? Join Dale Redder and let’s dig into the Word and answer these questions together. Learn how you can spot the warning signs that your preferences may ...
Is It Enough to Be Spiritual But Not Religious? (James, E10) The Wisdom of James, Episode 10: These days it’s common to hear, “I’m spiritual but not religious.” Perhaps you’ve said it yourself. Why do people want to distance themselves from religion? Certainly, it’s not to distance themselves from God. What, then, is the problem they’re trying to solve? And how can we help solve it? Join Patrick Morley and let’s answer these questions—and more. Learn how you can practice the kind of religion that pleases God.

The REAL Man in the Mirror (James, E8) The Wisdom of James, Episode 8: Let’s put this to rest right now. Patrick Morley didn’t name his book or ministry after a Michael Jackson song. In the book of James, there are two types of men who look in the mirror: one who deceives himself into thinking he’s living a godly life, and one who actually does what the Word of God says to do. One man in the mirror, James says, forgets who he is. While the other receives God’s blessings. We all want to know who we are and, more importantly, whose we are. Join Brett Clemmer as he shares James’ admonition to be a Man in the Mirror. And while we’re at ...
Can Your Tongue Be Tamed? (James, E9) The Wisdom of James, Episode 9: We all put our foot in our mouth all the time. But sometimes we lose control and say things we regret. Some of those things can’t be undone. Unsurprisingly, the Bible explains the problem and gives the pathway to success. Join Patrick Morley and learn God’s way to tame your tongue.
