Sunday 2/17/13 Minister Damien sermon  Keep It Moving-Keys to Breaking New Barriers  Phil 3:12-14

Most times people relate to the under dog on TV or in a movie story. Will they take the risk and keep moving forward? We want to say “don’t go back-keep moving!” It’s not just under dogs that have difficulty in keeping it moving.  I John 1:8  If we confess our sins, we will be forgiven. We all have internal struggles. Jesus does not condemn people but saves people. He wants to deliver you from sin and help you be the best you can be.

There is stuff in us that we need to vomit out of ourselves. For us to break new barriers, we cannot do the same old stuff from last year.  We all want to go to the next level. We need to ask God what is the barrier that we need to break down so we can be elevated and go to our new level. It does not matter how bad you have been or what bad things you have done. Jesus can take us out of it and change us!

1)  Focus on Our Purpose:   Jesus knows our name and when we connect with him, He will give us our purpose. Focus on our purpose. FOCUS!  Be aware of distractions and don’t get caught up in them. Stay focused on the purpose, the assignment that God has given us. Don’t Quit! Don’t look at our circumstances but Press On!

Go home and make a list of all your distractions. On the left side put the distractions and on the right side your old response from last year and your new responses for this year. The devil is old and keeps using the same old tactics/distractions over and over again. We have to change our responses to these tactics and have new responses.

2)  Forget the Past:    Let go of past issues, past failures, past un-forgiveness. Let go of the past weights so we can go faster. Let go of past successes too. Don’t be complacent! Don’t say how you used to be the “maan” back in 1972 and you had it going on.  But that’s all you do.  You just talk about the past and have stopped moving forward. Believe that what is ahead of us is better. Forget the past!

3)   Press Forward:    Forward Focused Faith. Forward focused faith is when we believe God for the future. We step off the cliff into nothingness, knowing that God will hold us up. It is Faith by Intention. Taking a leap of faith on purpose and it not be an accident or a need. Getting to the next level needs the determination to press on!  Press On!

Here in Charlotte, there was a lady in a wheelchair that was taken to her church altar and had hands laid on her. God told her that she was healed. They pulled her up out of her wheelchair and she stood up. Later at home she was in bed and thought how God had said she was healed. She tried to get out of bed using her cane and she fell out of bed. She, calling on Jesus, pulled herself up using the end of the bed. She stood up and started walking bent over. She kept on walking until after a few days, she was walking straight up. Later on she saw a wheelchair buddy of hers that she used to wheel/roll to the grocery store together. Her friend asked if she would get back into her wheelchair so they could roll together. The lady said NO…she was pressing forward, keeping it moving and NOT going back to her wheelchair!   Amen!

We all must PRESS ON!!   We all must KEEP IT MOVING!!

AMEN
